Senior Thermal / Mechanical Engineer

About TetraVue:

TetraVue has developed a flash LiDAR system that generates full motion, 3D, high definition video with range information for 2 million pixels in each flash. The system, which is ideally suited to meeting the requirements for ADAS, Autonomous driving and other machine vision and robotics applications is accomplished using commercially available, high volume components used in other product areas (e.g. cell phone cameras). 

 Founded in 2008, the company demonstrated and developed the technology with funding from the DOE and other government contracts before shifting focus to automotive and other commercial applications last year. Investors include Robert Bosch Venture Capital, Samsung Catalyst Fund, Foxconn and Nautilus Ventures Partners investors.

Job Summary:

The Senior Thermal/Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the thermal modeling, mechanical design, development, and engineering of the 4D Solid State LiDAR camera.

Principal Duties:

  • Develop innovative thermal design solutions for managing heat loads around sensitive optics
  • Perform thermal simulation and analysis using FEM and hand calculations
  • Set up, oversee, and run empirical testing, interpret and present results
  • Design of camera components and assemblies using SolidWorks
  • Material selection and tolerance stack-up calculations to determine optimal design decisions
  • Create product documentation including product specifications, bills of material, test and simulation reports, and mechanical drawings

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with 8+ years experience or Masters Degree/PhD with 5+ year experience
  • Expertise in thermal management designs and modeling
  • Experience using FEA in complex or sensitive systems (such as optical)
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced start-up environment
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and enjoy collaboration and cooperation with members of a team

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in mechanical aspects of electrical shielding, signal routing, and interconnects
  • Strong understanding of optical tolerances and design considerations
  • Experience taking product (esp. camera) to market
