Image Sensor Calibration Engineer

Status: Full Time/Exempt
Reports To: Director of Engineering

About TetraVue:

TetraVue has developed a flash LiDAR system that generates full motion, 3D, high definition video with range information for 2 million pixels in each flash. The system, which is ideally suited to meeting the requirements for ADAS, Autonomous driving and other machine vision and robotics applications is accomplished using commercially available, high volume components used in other product areas (e.g. cell phone cameras). 

Founded in 2008, the company demonstrated and developed the technology with funding from the DOE and other government contracts before shifting focus to automotive and other commercial applications last year. Investors include Robert Bosch Venture Capital, Samsung Catalyst Fund, Foxconn and Nautilus Ventures Partners investors.

Job Summary:

The image sensor calibration engineer will lead the characterization and calibration efforts for existing and new imaging sensors for the 4D camera system. This includes defining and executing test and calibration plans.

Principal Duties:

  • Work with other engineers to define specifications, testing, and calibration methods.
  • Develop and execute acceptance tests for incoming sensors
  • Implement and execute test and calibration plans for sensors
  • Assist in enhancing knowledge base

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8+ years experience, or Masters Degree with 5+ years experience, or PhD with 3+ years experience in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Astronomy, or related field
  • Experience with CCD/CMOS sensors coupled and uncoupled from camera electronics
  • Understanding of relevant sensor characteristics and demonstrable knowledge of techniques used to measure such characteristics, including their limitations
  • Experience and understanding measuring PTC curves, nonuniformity corrections, quantum efficiency, and similar sensor characterization and calibration
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and create new characterization tests and analyze results
  • Experience in Data Acquisition and Analysis
  • Ability to conduct detailed analysis and create high quality documentation of results
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced start-up environment
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and enjoy working with internal and external teams

Preferred Skills:

  • Good understanding of advanced sensor and camera timing and controls
  • Experience with LabView and Data Processing Software
  • Consumer or industrial sensor and/or camera product experience
  • Familiarity with CMOS pixel architectures
  • Familiarity with Image Acquisition and Image Processing techniques and software
  • Recent experience with low noise sensors, active imaging, and/or LIDAR systems
