FPGA Design Engineer

Status: Full Time/Exempt
Reports To: Lead FPFA Design Engineer

About TetraVue:

TetraVue has developed a flash LiDAR system that generates full motion, 3D, high definition video with range information for 2 million pixels in each flash. The system, which is ideally suited to meeting the requirements for ADAS, Autonomous driving and other machine vision and robotics applications is accomplished using commercially available, high volume components used in other product areas (e.g. cell phone cameras). 

Founded in 2008, the company demonstrated and developed the technology with funding from the DOE and other government contracts before shifting focus to automotive and other commercial applications last year. Investors include Robert Bosch Venture Capital, Samsung Catalyst Fund, Foxconn and Nautilus Ventures Partners investors.

Job Summary:

The FPGA Design Engineer is responsible for the development of IP cores that will bridge the interface between custom hardware boards and the embedded software.  Additionally, will be required to design control state machines and embedded algorithms.

Principal Duties:

  • Develop, Document, and Test System Verilog code for an Altera SoC
  • Porting intensive math algorithms into System Verilog and validating functionality
  • Communicating with external hardware via standard busses and full custom interfaces
  • Works closely with the PCB design engineers to develop control & interface logic
  • Works with the embedded software team to enable software configuration & processing
  • Perform regular peer code reviews to ensure code meets requirements and maintains quality standards

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering with 2 – 5 years’ experience, OR Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years’ experience
  • Proficiency in Altera SoC FPGA development
  • 3+ years of experience with System Verilog
  • 2+ years of experience with ModelSim
  • Hardware bring up and Debugging of 3+ boards
  • enchmarking, Code Coverage, and Testbenching

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with VHDL
  • Experience with ARM programming
  • Experience with the Altera Platform designer
  • Good understanding of networking and UDP/IP
  • bility to work in Linux and Windows environments
