Calibration Engineer

Status: Full Time/Exempt
Reports To: Director of Engineering

About TetraVue:

TetraVue has developed a flash LIDAR system that generates full motion, 3D, high definition video with range information for 2 million pixels in each flash. The system, which is ideally suited to meeting the requirements for ADAS, Autonomous driving and other machine vision and robotics applications is accomplished using commercially available, high volume components used in other product areas (e.g. cell phone cameras). 

Founded in 2008, the company demonstrated and developed the technology with funding from the DOE and other government contracts before shifting focus to automotive and other commercial applications last year. Investors include Robert Bosch Venture Capital, Samsung Catalyst Fund, Foxconn and Nautilus Ventures Partners investors.

Job Summary:

The calibration engineer works with the engineering group to develop, implement, and automate the calibration of the 4D camera system.

Principal Duties:

  • Develop and execute calibration and test plans for the 4D camera system
  • Develop and implement compensation methods to account for non-ideal conditions or performance changes
  • Develop techniques and setups to automate the calibration of the 4D camera system for production
  • Develop quality assurance procedures for 4D camera system
  • Work with other engineers to define calibration and test plans for the electrical, mechanical, and optical subsystems

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 10+ years experience, or Masters Degree with 8+ years experience, or PhD with 5+ years experience in Engineering, Physics, or related field
  • Extensive experience in data and signal processing
  • Experience in camera characterization, including a fundamental understanding of lens calibration
  • Experience in image processing algorithms and the underlying concepts and a demonstrated ability to apply such to new situations
  • Experience in camera and instrument calibration, including ability to develop methods to compensate for environmental changes such as temperature
  • Experience with LabView or Industrial Automation Software, Data Processing, and use of data for ongoing product improvement
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced start-up environment
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and enjoy working with larger teams

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Time of Flight sensors
  • Experience with LIDAR hardware and software
  • Experience in a production environment
  • Experience with reliability and quality testing and metrics
